Stress often arises from a feeling of a lack of control or inability to influence. Over a longer period this can lead to “burnout” and prolonged illness. Stress also creates conflicts, which further fuels the spiral downwards into greater stress.

Stress-related illness and periods of sick-leave are growing at an alarming rate, which has significant cost consequences from a quality of life perspective and also financially. It is therefore profitable for employers to offer healthcare activities that give the individual and group a breathing space for physical and mental exercise to build outer and inner strength.

Futura Light provides tailored programs for preventative healthcare and also for rehabilitation. These programs are based on the aiki-method of training, which focuses on both physical and mental aspects, including reflection and discussion, and exercises to reduce stress while increasing the sense of wellbeing and creative energy. The aiki-method has its roots in the Japanese martial art of aikido, meaning “the way of harmonious spirit”.

By developing an increased awareness and ability to focus, you improve your feeling of control and potential to influence your circumstances. As a result you will find it easier to both prioritize and accept, which results in a much reduced level of stress.

This training is performed typically in the new KFUK-KFUM Budo training centre in Uppsala, although other alternatives such as a conference centre or your own workplace can function too.

The following ingredients are used:

  • Mental training
  • Breathing exercises in the form of tai chi-qi gong
  • Self-defense training using aikido
  • Visualization during rest and motion
  • Awareness of the body
  • Shiatsu – a Japanese health massage
  • Bioenergetics – a deep form of stretching
  • Graphics and form
  • Zazen – meditation
